I was fortunate enough to attend an interview with Daisy Buchanan run by the London Writers’ Salon (who, incidentally, have changed my writing life with their daily writers’ hour – check it out!) and I bought Insatiable straight afterwards. The idea of a book which was uncompromising about female sexuality and sexual adventures sounded right up my street… and I was not disappointed.
I loved:
- The humour and wry observations about London life which punctuated this novel
- The fact that Violet, the protagonist, is apparently a pretty ordinary person – and she still gets to have an exciting sex life
- The romance which was interspersed alongside all the shagging
I didn’t love:
- That it was such easy reading I finished it in a day. I wanted it to last longer!
Would recommend it to:
Probably other people like me who grew up on Mills & Boon and who think there should be more sexuality in literature where women set the agenda. Fellow greedy girls. Probably not my mum.
